While Donna and Tim were on the East Coast doing good - we had Olive at our house for the week. Since she did so well as a house dog we have decided to keep her on as a foster dog to see just how much progress she can make. Sooo....
Olive went for her very first sidecar ride today. Dogs that live in my house inevitably end up riding in the sidecar. It is how we get around - it's almost a necessity. It helps that our own dog, Rube, was seemingly born to ride in a sidecar. He shows the new kids how it's done.
We were worried that Olive would be uncomfortable with the harness or the doggles or the noise of the bike...but as you can see, she took to it like a pro. The worst part was getting the sunblock on those pink ears of hers!!
Enjoy. We sure did.

Nancy, This is absolutely amazing! THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for giving Olive this most incredible opportunity. I am without words. When I think back to the Olive I knew at the shelter, and the Olive that has blossomed into the dog that she is now....I am just besides myself. I miss her dearly, but it is so incredibly fulfilling to see this dog succeed at each and every thing she does. Donna, Tim, Nancy, and all the BADRAP volunteers...you are all close to my heart...and you all mean the world to me. THANK YOU for what you have all done for this very special dog. Olive...the last words I whispered in your ear..were "show them what your worth", and you have done so a thousand times over. Miss you bunches!
ReplyDeletei have tears of joy right now! this has sincerely made me the happiest girl alive. to know olive before and to see this now. there are no words to describe the love i have in my heart for all the BadRap volunteers. Just amazing. Thank you so much for sharing this with the world. It really makes me love humans again... for now. :)
ReplyDeleteThat has to be one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Yay Olive!!
ReplyDeleteThis just drives home how difficult long-term stays in shelters are in general and how well these "difficult" dogs can do in the real world. Olive, you have shown everyone "what you're worth." A million bucks!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad she'll be in a foster home, thus giving BADRAP another spot for another dog struggling in a shelter.
It is hard for me to type this because my eyes are clogged with tears. Thank-you Donna, Tim, Nancy and all the others who have participated in allowing Olive to flourish. Those of us who know her and have worked with her realized that there was something amazing lying just below the surface. We knew with your help she wouldn't disappoint us. Thank you a million times over.
ReplyDeleteYAAAAY OLIVE!! So far, Clover has only spent about 60 seconds in my lap in our sidecar with the bike running in the garage. Do you do sidecar interventions??
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! Way to go Olive!!!
ReplyDeleteThis brings such happy tears to my eyes! I wish there were a million more of you guys! Please know that not only do the dogs love you for what you do but us people do too! We see so much heartache out there that sometimes we really need to see a happy story to remind us that all of the hard work that we all do is worth it to save these animals!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless you all, "To the world you might just be one person, but to one person you might be the world."
Tammy
How fun is this! You guys rock! And so does Olive!
ReplyDeleteLove love love love! I've got a big crush on Olive, so it's fabulous to see her thriving and embracing her inner biker dog!
ReplyDeleteAdorable. So happy for Olive. We can never thank you all enough for what you do for these wonderful dogs. Olive is one lucky dog. Keep updating us with Olive's adventures and great pictures please.
ReplyDeleteToday is my birthday and this made My Day. Thanks for trusting in Olive's ability to blossom. I don't know Olive but I have known many Olives coming through the shelter system. Like Olive, some of us are more "acquired tastes" than love-at-first-sight!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! Lucky dogs, what a great way to get around town.
ReplyDeleteOlive the motor-cycle momma - I love it! And she looks so pleased with herself....holding that head up with pride. Way to go!!
ReplyDeleteOlive is just a doll. She's gorgeous. What a brave girl!! thank you for fostering her and giving her such an experience. Sarah in NYC.
