boomerang puppy

Pit bull youngsters are not for the faint of heart ... They'd swing from chandeliers if they had thumbs. Sometimes the fantasy of having a wee one doesn't quite match the experience ... Or so it went with Patsy, who got bounced back on her ears to the barn when her adopter-hopeful waved a white flag. Oh dear.

It happens occasionally. So she's back in her kennel and we get to gaze upon her ears some more and marvel at her stubby little legs and big girl personalty and wait for that special someone. They'll show up. Til then, we'll just pop some more popcorn and have some more laughs with our resident rascal.

  1. Puppies are not for the faint of heart (neither are kids). They require ALOT of hard work but the reward is priceless! Love her ears!!

  2. It takes a certain amount of insanity for these special pups, BUT it is completely worth it. I had my wild boy from 3ish months. Were there days I wondered if I had lost my mind? Absolutely. Discipline, love and training made my Quizz into the gentleman he is today. Ms. Patsy will find her forever home. Until then, she has you guys.

  3. Poor baby. How confusing for her. But I would bet she is happy as can be to be back with you. Wish I lived closer-I just love those ears.

  4. "They'd swing from the chandeliers if they had thumbs." That sentence has been keeping me happy since I read it yesterday! I'm sure a cutie like Patsy will have another taker (and a keeper!) in no time at all and maybe she'll even mature a bit in the meantime!

  5. Patsy, hopefully someone will adopt you soon. Someone who is not faint of heart. Because sometimes you puppies can be crazy! We rescued Bella with the intent on fostering until we could find someone suitable. We now have a couple gnawed on window sills, some door molding and a hole in the couch. But Bella is here to stay now because we can see the wonderful dog she is becoming. We couldn't imagine life without her now even though the going gets tough sometimes. There will be that person that deserves you Patsy and will love you even if you are a little cray-cray! Makes life interesting!

  6. While it is little consolation to Patsy or you guys right now, I'm glad that her potential adopters realized that they were in over their heads rather than forcing something to work that was not meant to and, thus, making Patsy’s life less enjoyable than it could be (and making themselves miserable in the process). I’m sure Patsy’s forever home will come along shortly and everyone will look around to say “O, so *this* is exactly what was meant to be for Patsy.”

And love this line – “"They'd swing from the chandeliers if they had thumbs." We are the crazy foster people that will take the fearful dogs that people think are hopeless, the wild child adolescent dogs, compassionate holds, special needs and even elderly dogs. But, puppies .. no thank you. Not us. They are cute and adorable and so.much.fun but we are not a good match for puppies. They push our buttons and we get frustrated, then they get frustrated, and it is just not a fun situation for anyone. So, we leave the puppies for the strong of heart and focus on the ones where we know what we are doing.
