stray day

An email Sunday morning: "I am desperately looking for a foster parent for a sweet female pit that my daughter and I found yesterday on a busy road. She was covered in blood, emaciated, and clearly a new mom. A neighbor told us that she saw a car throw her out on the street and then speed off. Please let me know if you can foster, or know of anyone who can. Thank you so much."

Lucky girl to have friends. Thanks to Jibboom, who saw fit to get a home and especially to Aunt Anita, who kindly took Willy home to open precious kennel space - this stray found a safe spot. In two weeks, once her stray hold is completed, she'll be ours to place.

'Til then, she eats, she smiles, she sleeps, she wonders what in the world just happened to her. Life is what happened, lil girl.

We'll name you Loni. "People with this name have a deep inner desire for a stable, loving family or community, and a need to work with others and to be appreciated."

  2. Ah... Thank God she's now in a safe place. I will never understand the cruelty in this world. Who are these people?!

  3. I'm so glad you guys were able to take her in. I hope her puppies, wherever they are, haven't been subjected to a similar fate.

  4. Poor Loni--what a roller coaster! The good news, girl, is that it all goes up from here! (She looks to have a very beautiful color coat in this photo, by the way. I hope it won't be long until her body is back in shape to do it justice!)

  6. I dont understand. Did someone throw her away as soon as the puppies were old enough to do without her or had she just given birth? We also have a pit who was used for breeding then dumped. I am so glad you have her safe. Thank you Bad Rap and thank you the kind woman who picked her off the street.

  8. What is it with these people? I just read about the Maltese pups and King Charles spaniels that got dumped by the side of the road in Texas. Clearly no regard for life. Thank dog you had room for her. Mammas are my favorites.

  9. Sigh....sounds like the same sort of scum who had Clover before she was picked up on 80 by BACS. Loni, you can forget all the bad stuff now---you're in for a lot of pleasant surprises from a lot of good people!
